Post-Conference Tours

 

A number of optional post-conference tours are available to 22AWC delegates. 

Northern Plains Tour

Date: Thursday 14 October
Time: TBA
Cost: $90.00 Inc. GST

Departing from Adelaide Oval and travelling by bus to the agricultural fringe of Adelaide’s north this tour is sponsored by the Crop Society of South Australia and will focus on landscapes in a production setting. The tour will visit cropping properties, stop at the University of Adelaide Roseworthy Campus and learn about current research programs. Visit properties within the 2015 Pinery fire area to examine the recovery cycle. And intensive finally stop to discuss horticultural production with some of Adelaide’s remaining market gardens of the fertile Adelaide Plains. Tour will return to Adelaide Oval. 

 

Central Hills
Tour

Date: Thursday 14 October

Departing from Adelaide Oval and travelling by bus to the Adelaide Hills the tour will be hosted by Phil Cramond and will focus on landscapes in bush land and peri-urban intensive production settings. Catch views of Adelaide from the top of the Mount Lofty Range as Phil gets hands on while sharing his intimate knowledge of biological controls agents for WoNS woody weeds within the wet  stringy bark forests of Cleland Conservation Park. Hear Adelaide Hills orchard growers share on their current management approaches to weed control. Finally think big with Phil in a field workshop session about strategic responses to bushfire in the recovering lands of the 2019-2020 Adelaide Hills fires. Tour will return to Adelaide Oval.

City Precinct
Tour

Date: Thursday 14 October

Cost: $90.00 Inc. GST

Departing from Adelaide Oval and traveling on foot and by boat the City Precinct tour focuses on the landscapes within Adelaide City’s amenity setting and takes a look at at a few of the educational resources within the vicinity. Hosted by counterparts Chris Brodie and David Blewitt delve into a wealth of discussion about the many plants found along the River Torrens Lake environs. Make visits to the Adelaide Botanic Gardens, the Museum of Economic Botany, and have Chris open the doors into the vaults of the State Herbarium. Tour ends very near the front door of the National Wine Centre.

Southern Vales Tour

Date: Thursday 14 October
Time: TBA
Cost: $90.00 Inc. GST

Departing from Adelaide Oval and travelling by bus to Adelaide’s southern vales and beaches the tour focuses on landscapes in a peri urban, and coastal setting. With travel guides Troy Bowman and Henry Rutherford team up to grapple with the efforts made to mange Opuntia monocantha in the Onkaparinga river system. Catch the local heroes who have taken coastal conservation to the next level. Hear from Kaurna Tradional Owners with their contemporary guidance for integrated land management. And catch Troy’s demonstration of new technology and herbicides for tackling woody weed control. Tour will return to Adelaide Oval.

Registration Cancellation Policy

For any cancellation of registration prior to 10 September 2021 the registration fee will be refunded less a 12% administration fee (including GST). For any cancellation of registration on or after 10 September 2021, the full registration fee is non-refundable. No refunds will be made for non-attendance at the conference or activities.
